SMU Addresses Water Scarcity in Vilaverde; Installs Barangay Water Tank

To address the persistent issue of water scarcity in the remote communities of Villaverde, Saint Mary’s University through Lingkod Maria Community Development and Advocacy Center installed a water tank in Sitio Gonggongob, Barangay Cabuluan, Villaverde, Nueva Vizcaya on April 5, 2024.

The project aims to provide a sustainable source of clean and accessible water for residents, in hopes of helping improve their daily living conditions and promote better hygiene and sanitation practices in the area.

Prior to the installation, the team carried out detailed planning and site assessments to identify the most suitable location for the tank. More so, factors such as elevation, proximity to existing water sources, and accessibility for maintenance were considered to ensure long-term functionality.

Meanwhile, transporting construction materials and equipment to the site posed significant logistical challenges due to unpaved roads and rugged terrain. However, despite these difficulties, the team successfully completed the delivery and installation process.

LMCDAC noted that community participation was a key component of the project. Underscoring how residents assisted in various stages of the installation, contributing labor and local knowledge.
