BANTAY Magat Project: Advancing Water Quality Research and Community Stewardship

The St. Adjutor’s BANTAY Magat Project (Physicochemical and Biological Water Quality Analysis of the Magat River) was successfully conducted by the Center for Natural Sciences across key monitoring stations in Ambaguio, Bayombong, and Quezon.
The activity involved comprehensive field sampling and on-site analysis, including physicochemical testing and macroinvertebrate collection as bioindicators of river health. Alongside the faculty and staff of the Center for Natural Sciences, BS Biology 2 students actively participated in conducting the analysis, fostering hands-on scientific learning and environmental stewardship.
This initiative was made possible through the collaboration of the School of Health and Natural Sciences – Center for Natural Sciences, the Community Engagement and Indigenous Peoples Studies Center (CEIPSC), and the Safety and Pollution Control Office (SPCO). Their collective efforts ensured that scientific research remains aligned with environmental protection and community needs.
Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, SDG 13: Climate Action, and SDG 14: Life Below Water—the project underscores the importance of science-driven action in safeguarding vital water resources.
