SMU-MLS goes green at Busilac

In celebration of Philippine Arbor Day, students and faculty of Saint Mary’s Unviersity Medical Laboratory Science (SMU-MLS) planted trees at Busilac, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, June 25, 2023.
A total of 50 bamboo tree seedlings were planted along the area, as part of the university’s collective advocacy of promoting a sustainable environment.
The event is in collaboration with Department of Environment and Natural Resources, represented by Engr. Lensu Bunuen and guided by Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office – Bayombong Staff Judy Puno.
Philippine Arbor Day is mandated by Presidential Proclamation No. 643 and Republic Act No. 10176, encouraging active participation from government agencies, the private sector, schools, and the public. More so, the day focuses on planting trees and other activities to improve air and water quality, mitigate climate change, and foster a culture of environmental stewardship.
